Ø  Manage every aspect of a network consisting of  900 netbooks, 300 PC’s, 18 Servers (physical and virtual), 30 laser printers, 1100 users, web hosting, course management server (extensive Moodle experience) and campus wide managed Wi-Fi.

Ø  Research, design, and installation of campus wide VOIP phone system.  ROI expected to be less than 4 years based local and long distance savings alone.

Ø  Brought on board to take advantage of private sector network engineering experience and apply it to public school system.

Ø  Initial Challenge:  Bring technological stability to the district and use technology to streamline processes, communication, and opportunities to educate. 

Ø  Designed domain infrastructure based on district’s wish to push for more Web and network based applications.

 

                                Major Accomplishments:

·         2010 – Installation of Campus managed wireless solution to support District 1:1 initiative

·         2005 Ohio SchoolNet Technology Coordinator of the Year Finalist. 

·         Complete Domain Renovation, including migration to Microsoft Exchange as the primary e-mail platform.  This implementation allows global web access to mail, calendaring, and contact information. 

·         Since hire date, no network outages to date and servers remain stable. 

·         Moodle implementation, district wide calendar implementation, student e-mail implementation, maintenance trouble ticket trafficking – all implemented at no cost to the district using open source software packages and database engines.

·         Manage installation and district wide security and keyless entry system.

Ø  Contracted through Pomeroy IT Solutions.  Placed at Owens Illinois.

Ø  Engaged at OI to provide on–site technical expertise to IT/IS staff.

Ø  Specific talents targeted: Migration Experience in Windows 2000 Server environment from Metaframe 1.8 to Metaframe XP.

Ø  IBM RS6000 End of Lease consolidation and return solution.  Solution implemented saved OI at least $750,000/year in equipment leasing costs.

Ø  IBM Windows 2000 Cluster configuration at Levis Development Facility.  Power and incorrect UPS configuration caused system failure and data loss.  Solution implemented included RAID share/cluster rebuild and data recovery.  Full recovery from disaster, to original state, in 16 hours.  Follow up includes hot swap SCSI drive configuration, UPS configuration and testing, and complete documentation.

Ø  Expected Project: Nationwide Owens Plant Server Refresh.  Upgrade all existing Backup Domain Controllers to Windows 2000 Server to increase stability of WAN and centralized security.
